Agreed! Yes, the new look does have Insight similarities, but to me it reminds me more of the CRX. Especially at this angle:

From what I can see, no more tail pipe dead smack in the middle!? To be honest I was hoping that Honda would not have included it in the production. I've never been a fan of the exhaust located in the middle ever since the Boxster came out with one way back when.

The rear does remind me more of the Insight. I think it would have looked better to black out the entire rear panel above the bumper. Reminiscent of the CRX.

Yes, glad to have you back Triple-H. Once again, great compare. I know some the lovers of the original concept may disagree, but this design looks better than the original! Is it just me or does it look lower as well, hugs the ground more. The only thing I'm concerned with is that the design looks more dense and not as streamlined as the original, which makes me curious about the weight. Please Honda, don't hunker it down!

Unless the specs come in all wrong, Honda can include my purchase in their 2010 annual report!

The concept was sweet, but this newer design is HOT!

You are absolutely right that Honda is generally pretty good about bringing an extremely close representation of the final model to the "concept car" table. I'm thinking that the newest pictures are fairly spot on the feel of the car.

Thanks.

And I totally agree, I figured when the next version came out I would like it less, but instead, I like it more.
I will admit though, when I get mine, I will not keep the a-pillars black...

ALL NEW DATA

CR-Z Concept 1 converts to
4,080 millimeter = 160.6" Length
1,780 millimeter = 70.1" Width
1,280 millimeter = 50.4" Height
2,500 millimeter = 98.4" Wheelbase

CR-Z Concept 2
Length: 4,080 mm = 160.6"
Width: 1,740 mm = 68.5"
Height: 1,350 mm = 53.1"
Wheelbase: 2,435 mm = 95.9"

So the revised concept compared to the original concept
Length: The same
Width: 1.6" narrower
Height: 1,350 mm = 2.7" taller
Wheelbase: 2,435 mm = 2.5" closer

GEN2 CRX
148.5" Length
65.9" Width
50.1" Height
90.6" Wheelbase

So the revised concept compared to the '88-'91 CRX
Length: 12.1" longer
Width: 2.6" wider
Height: 3" taller
Wheelbase: 5.3" farther apart

This does indeed create a car that is a sizable amount bigger than the old CRX
Now if I try to ignore the weight gain due to this size increase, I will say, I do like the extra width, that will mean the track is wider, but, I wish it did not have to get so long, the only good thing is the wheelbase did not go up as much as the length; a big part of what makes the CRX such a blast to drive is that dinky short wheelbase.

I just wish it had stayed lower, I like the wide, low look of the orginal concpet and as long as I'm bitching with the flatter roof that it had as well. With that said I still like the car and I understand that some things have to give to make it a production car.

I guess wider & longer because of things like crumple zones, re-inforced frame, curtain air bags and other safety stuff
